What is Cubital Tunnel Syndrome?
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is an ulnar nerve compression on the inside of the elbow. After Carpal tunnel syndrome, it is the second most frequent nerve compression in the upper extremity. or Ulnar Neuritis or Compression of the Ulnar Nerve
The ulnar nerve is a nerve that runs down the inside of your elbow and supplies the inside of your forearm as well as the palm side of your fourth and fifth fingers.
Overuse or overloading of the Triceps muscles, elbow, or forearms, the existence of a spur on the medial epicondyle in the elbow or Cubital valgus, and so on are all causes of Cubital tunnel syndrome. This is most typically observed in tennis players, bench pressers, and those who sleep with their arms over their heads.
Symptoms are:
- Common CTS symptoms include
- numbness and tingling on the palm side of the fourth and fifth fingers,
- weakness in grip,
- forearm pain, or
- Also, loss of sensation.
- CTS symptoms are exacerbated by activities that require bending of the elbow, which stretches the ulnar nerve, and excessive cell phone use.
- Also, More severe CTS symptoms include hand weakness or clumsiness, muscular atrophy, and claw hand deformity, among others.
Nonsurgical therapy for CTS includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections, night bracing, and other measures.
Aside from the aforementioned treatments, physiotherapy has been clinically established to be the best treatment for this.
