Shoulder’s Pain and its Physiotherapy

Shoulder Pain (Impingement syndrome)

Shoulder impingement syndrome is a broad term to describe shoulder pathologies, and Shoulder Pain, under shoulder impingement syndrome there are several pathological mechanisms such as Rotator cuff pathology, Scapular dyskinesis, Shoulder instability, Biceps pathology, SLAP lesion, etc. these conditions are suggested to cause shoulder impingement syndrome.

Shoulder impingement syndrome can affect you through 2 types first Subacromial/external impingement and the second is internal impingement.

External impingement is the mechanical encroachment of soft tissue structures like- Bursa, & Rotator cuff tendons in the Subacromial space between the humeral head and acromial arch. لعبة بلاك جاك مجانية The patient often presents pain in the mid-range of motion during active abduction that causes a painful arc.

Internal impingement describes an encroachment of the Rotator cuff tendons between the glenoid rim & humeral head. The patient presents with pain in shoulder flexion with internal rotation and maximal external rotation, horizontal abduction, and a certain amount of abduction (such as over-head throwing position).

Other symptoms of shoulder impingement are- shoulder inflammation, spasm, decreased range of motion, etc.

Shoulder impingement can be caused by over-use injury, poor upper-back & shoulder posture as well as faulty movement patterns. Such as the forward rounded shoulder decreases the space available at the shoulder joint, causing entrapment of tendons.

At Elite physiotherapy and sports, the injury center team of quality physiotherapists has experienced several years of dealing with musculoskeletal disorders, sports injuries, and other conditions with conservative methods, and prevent from unnecessary surgeries. Our average number of visits for complete injury resolution is between 4 to 6 visits.

Physiotherapy treatment of Shoulder Pain:

Before starting the treatment we spend a full hour with patients and perform a thorough evaluation so that we can get an accurate diagnosis and get to the root cause of your pain.

Treatment starts with the aim of getting you relief from your pain. And this can be achieved by Cryo-therapy or Heat therapy. For Cryo-therapy we have a Cryo-air machine and Cold packs. We also have a Hydro-collateral machine for heat therapy.

Then our Sports physiotherapists perform several manual techniques as a treatment of your condition such as-

Myofascial release technique:

  •  By physiotherapists. Or you can do it on your own with the help of a tennis ball, or golf ball. Do Myofascial releasing at the pectoral, under the scapula, under the armpit, and backside of the shoulder.

Manual mobilization of the shoulder joint: this includes mobilization of GH & ST joint, AP & Inferior glides, joint oscillation, and movement with mobilization (MVM).

Manual stretching: physiotherapists passively stretch your muscles such as pectoral muscles, and neck muscles, & also do capsular stretching. Stretching will help you to regain joint mobility.

Passive ROM exercises:

  • in this physiotherapists passively move the shoulder joint and assist the patient to achieve full mobility of the shoulder joint. Along with the shoulder physiotherapists also focus on the mobility of the cervical spine, & thoracic spine.

Strengthening exercises- with the help of resistive bands, weights, & kettlebells, physiotherapists design an exercise program to strengthen your rotator cuff muscles, Biceps, Triceps, & latissimus muscles.

Taping-  with McConnell or Kinesio tape to improve movement and dyskinesia.

Some specialist procedures include dry needling and cupping therapy.

Latest trending treatment: Such as

  • Extracorporeal Shock wave (ECSW), High-intensity class 4 laser, Combo therapy unit, Super Inductive System (SIS) for mechanical mobilization of joints and muscles, etc.
