Ankle injuries are the most prevalent type of injury in sports. If not treated appropriately, it can cause chronic laxity, discomfort, and delayed healing.

An ankle injury can occur when the ligament that surrounds and links the bones of the leg to the foot is injured. The injury usually occurs when you twist or roll your ankle unnaturally. This can cause the ligaments that connect your ankle bones and joints to strain or rip.

Symptoms include:

An ankle injury can be painful, especially if you put weight on the afflicted foot. When you touch the ankle, you will feel tenderness. Swelling. Bruising. Limited Range of Motion The ankle is unstable. At the time of injury, there is a popping sensation or sound.

Untreated ankle injuries can result in persistent ankle instability and limb weakness. The compensatory mechanism may also occur, resulting to eventual malformation. In other words, 80 percent of untreated ankle injuries might repeat, causing significant ankle joint degeneration.

  • After two weeks, you can perform the following exercises: single leg balance on a Bosu ball, reverse lunges on a Bosu ball, heel and toe walking, single-leg hip hinges, ankle stability training, ankle proprioceptor control exercise, ankle drills, and balancing on a wobble board, balance stones, or a Bosu ball.
